Neck, anger and a sense of injustice
Somatic ON-LINE workshop
April 26 (Sunday), 12:00 - 16:30
In this workshop, we will explore not only physical discomfort but also how neck muscles help hold onto emotions such as anger and a sense of injustice. These deep and powerful feelings often take hold during childhood—perhaps when one is compared to others—and later evolve into a tendency to compare oneself and one’s life with others. This emotional grip can turn a person into a relentless fighter for justice in all aspects of life.
In this state, individuals lose sensitivity to their own needs, adopting a rigid behavioral approach based on extremes of how things "should" or "should not" be. The body becomes rigid, particularly in the thoracic spine, heart, and neck. Neck muscles transform into steel cables, restricting free movement of the head and causing unbearable suffering, such as headaches, dental pain, throat issues, and more.
The feeling of injustice does not exist in isolation; it is rooted in a lack of freedom, self-reliance, trust, and self-belief. Beneath the feeling of injustice lies anger. As Marshall Rosenberg explains: "We often think the source of anger is another person's actions or words, or even our own actions and words. But in reality, we become angry when our values are left unrecognized and unsupported."
In this somatic workshop, we aim to create a space where participants can encounter both anger and the feeling of injustice without trying to "improve" themselves or force themselves to be someone else. We will practice opening up to our vulnerabilities and allowing others to be present with us in moments of vulnerability.
