How to Sit Correctly // Part 4 Relaxing the Neck and Shoulders

When we sit and look at a screen or a book, we tend to lower our head and gaze downward. This position puts a lot of strain on the neck muscles, which are responsible for holding the head up. Chronic neck muscle tension can lead to pain, discomfort, distractibility, and decreased work efficiency. Tension in the neck can also be a source of headaches.

In this video, I invite you to try a series of unusual somatic movements designed to relax the neck and shoulder area. Come back to these movements from time to time to remind your nervous system how flexible and mobile your neck can be.

IMPORTANT: Perform the movements slowly and carefully, especially if you experience pain or stiffness. The range of motion will naturally increase without any need to stretch the muscles.

Enjoy your practice!
