Practice for expanding body awareness

Take some time to answer a few questions that can help expand your body awareness.

  1. Which part of your body do you feel most aware of right now?

  2. What makes this part of your body feel the most familiar?

  3. Describe the level of comfort or pain; ease or tension; any perceived limitations or functionality.

  4. What else about this part of your body captures your attention?

  5. How does this part differ from other connected body parts?

  6. Where does this part of the body begin and end?

  7. Does it feel extremely important or insignificant?

  8. Does it feel warmer or cooler compared to other body parts?

  9. Is it doing more or less than its fair share of work?

  10. If this part of your body could have a wish, what would it wish for?

  11. How is this part connected to your whole body?

Practice occasionally checking in with how different parts of your body feel at any given moment. Notice which of these questions provide you with the most useful insights.
