In somatic practice, we constantly talk about wholeness and the interconnectedness of mind, emotions, and body. But what does this truly mean for us? In this workshop, we invite you to explore the connection between the heart and the voice.
Expressions like "putting your hand on your heart," "a light heart," or "speaking from the heart" capture this connection in language. Anatomical structures also reflect it. The voice is one of our primary tools for self-expression, yet so many obstacles stand in the way of authentic sound.
In this workshop, we’ll playfully explore the physical and psychological barriers that prevent us from "speaking from the heart," that constrain the throat, and that prompt habitual reactions to people and situations instead of genuine expression of our feelings and needs. By becoming aware of habitual tension patterns in communication—with others and ourselves—and by reducing sensorimotor amnesia in the chest, throat, jaw, and tongue, we naturally move toward deeper parts of ourselves, hidden behind social masks. This brings us to empathy, self-empathy, and fulfilling, energizing communication with others.
